Other Groups and Activities
Here are some other ways to get involved in at St Mary’s:
Taking care of the church
Whether it’s dusting, sewing, flower arranging or helping out in the office, there’s plenty that goes on behind the scenes. Do contact the Parish Office if you might be able to help. St Mary’s also has a supportive Friends of the Parish Church, which provides funds for maintaining the church building.
As well as a team of welcomers who help at Sunday services, there are also volunteers who are on hand to welcome visitors during the week in the summer months.
Transition Project. The Transition Project run mainly by volunteers from St Mary's Church, provides a free, Job Search/CV Preparation/ Interview Practice service, to help those who are looking for work.
In view of Social Distancing requirements we are now offering personal support by phone/Zoom/email instead of the face to face meetings of the last ten years. Please email email@example.com at any time, or phone 07901 173 763 to explore how we can help.
Our volunteer team members have first-hand experience of job hunting and can provide practical support based on a wide range of work experience. Advice also available on our website at www.transitionproject.co.uk
Fairtrade Stall. Once a month after the 10.30am service we run a Fairtrade Stall. Fairtrade works with farming co-operatives, businesses and governments to make trade fair, so that producers earn secure and sustainable livelihoods. Buying Fairtrade products supports this and we will ensure that any surplus we make will go to a charity that works to end poverty and injustice worldwide. Find out more here.
We also support the work of Jimmy’s Cambridge Homeless Project - www.jimmyscambridge.org.uk, and the Uttlesford Food Bank amongst other local organisations.

With a tower of 12 bells, St Mary’s has a society of bellringers, who ring for Sunday services and weddings. Find out more about St Mary’s Bells here.
